Testimonial: Adoption in Quebec, a possible and hopeful story

This testimony shows that adoption via mixed banking can be experienced within a reasonable time and become a profoundly positive experience, even after the loss of a pregnancy.

December 19, 2017

As you will have understood, I can't give you much information about the casserole that went into our hearts, like my boys went into my belly.

I would simply like to say that it is possible to adopt in Quebec, within a reasonable period of time and that the child who will be entrusted to us, although having suffered a rift with his biological parent, will not necessarily be full of irreparable sequelae and that it can be a great adoption story.

Our casserole came into our lives when she was only 2 days old and she never saw her biological parents again after birth. When it has been 6 months since she has integrated our living environment, an application for eligibility for adoption will be submitted to the judge (the DPJ takes care of these procedures). In our case, as soon as 2 months of placement passed, we had a judgment granting us all parental rights. So we no longer need to ask the DPJ to go out with a crook, for example. Although court delays are not uncommon, we are hopeful that before Cocotte had blown its 2E Birthday candle, it will bear our name.

In conclusion, I am aware that we were particularly privileged to have been particularly privileged by the simplicity of our case, but that simply means that great adoption stories via mixed banking exist.

We are so thrilled with our approach and the ease of this process that we are already thinking about the possibility of adopting another casserole through this program. We can start the process again after the first anniversary of placing a casserole in our family. I have always dreamed of a large family, and I think it is wonderful to have had access to this alternative to pregnancy to start my family.

I came back to tell you this story more briefly than that of my pregnancy, hoping to have sown a small seed of hope in the hearts of those who dream of parenthood while having to grieve a pregnancy.

In addition, I wanted to tell a great story of adoption via the DPJ because, when I started my adoption process and when I was talking about it around me, there was always someone to tell me a horror story about an acquaintance who had been a foster family. As if it were inevitable that things would go wrong. Yes, there are risks, but there are also great stories.

Goodbye and who knows, maybe until next time if I have another story to tell you one day!
