Testimonial: Context in which I am doing my IVF procedures
While in vitro fertilization procedures are in progress, a major home renovation project is being undertaken, with a deliberately more balanced approach and without a rigid schedule.
At the beginning of winter 2014, we started planning various works on the house for the coming summer. Yes, a house is a beautiful haven of peace, but it needs a lot of love! The sum of the various repairs required makes us lean towards major works. The entire garage deserves to be redone: its foundations are not well anchored under the frost level, it tugs on the house every spring, which, over the years, has caused joints to crack and allow air to enter.
When we start renovations, do you know the “As long as at”?
Even though these “as long as” were thought about, they scared me. The project: demolish our garage and rebuild it, 2 floors “until” we get there! This would allow us to expand the kitchen, which was frankly unpleasant when we were there for more than 4 people, and to create an entrance hall (before, we went directly into the mini-kitchen). We will be building 2 new rooms and an additional bathroom above the garage. The goal being to make a child's bedroom and an office/ guest room/ bedroom for a 2E As a child, life would suddenly be good... As my father would say, you prepare yourself for happiness by showing life that you are actively working to pursue it.
But before we started, again, on a construction site, we talked a lot about it, Chéri and I. I told him all my fears about another major project, I named all my fears and anxieties. I didn't want to go through the same thing again.
Work began in September and agreed to contract more of it. There was also agreement that I would focus on my IVF treatments and that I would get as much rest as I needed. This time I was given the right not to feel guilty about achieving a result within X time (both for the work and for the IVF).
It's funny how sometimes you have to relive the same stages of your life a second time to show him that you understood the lesson.
A year later, we are still working, they are progressing at a good pace, but we are allowing ourselves time off to do other things. We don't have a specific timetable in mind and we enjoy the various stages.
