Testimonial: A peaceful return to normality

The relief and the sweetness of a reunion after a hectic start to life.

July 12, 2016

My guy's progress in neo-Nat is going well. After 3 hours of life, the pep-mask was removed. After 12 hours, we were able to remove the electrodes from his heart monitor. And after 24 hours we were able to remove the saturometer and let him out of intensive care, his condition being stable enough to bring the whole family together in one place. It is now Saturday night 22:00

There are no words to tell you how happy I was when I was allowed to roll my little pram to our room. We quickly reunited our 2 sons in the same pram. They spent 37 weeks glued to each other; in my eyes, it's obvious that they missed each other a bit.

It is so touching to see them together. If you only look with your eyes, you don't get the impression that they are really aware that the other is there. But when you see how calmly they sleep together, you know that they are reunited in this way.

I can now put my 2 guys in the breast at the same time. Finally, I can go back to meeting my basic needs: get some sleep between drinking, eating, going to the bathroom and wow: taking a shower! I hadn't slept since... the night from Thursday to Friday (where I had been able to sleep for 2-3 hours)

It was only Sunday morning that I found the energy to give news to my loved ones. It seems that everyone was a bit worried about us or was frustrated that they had not been informed beforehand. But excuse me, my marathon was way too intense for me to have time for anything else.

It's only on Monday morning that the catheter will be removed from my guy's hand: no more antibiotics! We had our leave in the afternoon.

What a joy to bring my children home. The place where we put so much energy and love into to build a nest for this longed-for family.

Returning home with my hands full, I had the impression of being complete; that what I had run for so much was finally warm and safe in my arms, in our nest.

How beautiful life is...
