Testimonial: Completely opposite realities, but teamwork

Between forced rest, guilt and hyperactivity on the part of the spouse, this testimony shows how organization and communication make it possible to function as a team during a risky pregnancy.

You will have understood that with such fears, I calmed down in my daily hustle and bustle. I alternate between household chores that I am still able to do and rest.

I feel a lot less efficient than before. And a bit guilty to darling who must make up for my lack of efficiency.

Have I already told you about the lifestyle of a hyperactive darling? He loves his work, often staying in the evening to complete certain files. Member of the board of directors of a cooperative. Master's student, in a university in the suburbs of Montreal (1h15 from home). Luckily, this session he only took one course in the evening! And the weekend, well it's Christmas! This man has superhuman strength, always in a good mood despite fatigue.

But still, I have to be there and do everything I can to make sure we are an effective team! I do everything I can: meals, cleaning, organizing the arrival of babies.

And I'm making lists for darling, millions of lists!

In this way, as soon as he has 5 minutes of free time or energy to expend, he knows which task to prioritize.

I put together the list of meals for the week, and the grocery list, that he should do, as I am no longer able to walk for too long a period of time.

I am listing the works and materials that we will have to buy for the renovations planned for the coming weekend.

How do we get along as a couple? By simply speaking. I express my guilt to him for not being able to help him more and for being in great shape (as I only do that all my days, to rest), while he would buy some rest, if he could. For his part, he tells me when he is exhausted, too tired. I then dose my requests, letting him recover, then preferring a release or a movie to listen to.

But both of us are aware that “after” we will no longer have as much time and energy for renovations. Balancing between rest and the urgency of ending it is not easy.

Luckily, our relationship is strong, and we are well surrounded.
